| About Me | After graduating from HHS, I attended Butler University in Indianapolis, majored in Biology and graduated in 1969. I lived with a professor's family for two years at Butler and took care of their kids for free room & board. They also took me to Europe with them for a sabbatical year during that time period. We lived in London and visited many European countries. It was awesome. I taught HS biology at Gary Horace Mann HS 1969-1970 school year, in Japan for a DOD school and in Massachusetts (7 yrs total). After graduating from Butler in 1969, I met Arthur Telegen from Massachusetts that summer. My HS debate partner, Suzanne (Pochter) Bronheim introduced us. She had gone to Brandeis with him. He'd been drafted out of law school in 1969. We were married in the summer of 1970 after writing and taping for a year, lived in Japan (Sasebo, where the Pueblo was last docked before it got captured) for a year, moved to Massachusetts (his home area), had two kids, (Rachel in 1975 and Joe in 1977), divorced in 1987. I went back to school in 1985, graduated from Salem state College in 1988 with a BSN and have been an RN since then. Worked at several community hospitals in the Boston area for a couple of years, moved to Durham, NC in 1990, and have been at Duke University Medical Center ever since. I love my job, am still working and probably won't retire till May of 2015 or later. My second husband, Ira Blumenthal, & I have now been married for 20 years. He has two kids from his first marriage also. Each of us has one kid on each coast. His daughter lives in Palo Alto, CA with two of our four granddaughters. His son lives in Massachusetts. My daughter and our other two granddaughters live in New York City and my son is working on his PhD at the University of Washington in Seattle. Am looking forward to renewing old acquaintances this summer. I go up to Indiana every year. My oldest brother Jay passed away at the age of 73 in 1969. He was always good to me. He had six children. I'm very close to his widow and to many of my nieces, nephews, and cousins. There are now two great nieces and two great nephews that I've "adopted" as grandchildren.
