Alice A. Avallone
Alice A. Avallone, a lifetime resident of Hamden, CT, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 16th after a brief illness. Born June 24, 1943, she is the daughter of the late Anne M. Shea and Francis Paul Terranova.
Alice was an insurance specialist for over 45 years until her recent retirement. She served on the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and co-chaired their Chamber Business Network. In 2015, she was the recipient of their Leadership Award.
She cherished spending time with family and friends, entertaining and traveling. Alice will be remembered for her many kindnesses, endless sense of humor and loyalty. Most of all, she will be remembered for her strength, positive attitude throughout her cancer journey often saying, "Cancer is tough, I'm tougher".
Alice is survived by her loving daughters Melissa Gatto Burnham (James Burnham) of Colchester, CT; and Donna Urice (Chad Urice) of Hamden, CT; her four grandchildren Sophia Gatto, Thomas Gatto, Alec Urice and Cameron Urice; and her beloved companion Fran Tranquillo and family. Alice leaves behind many dear friends who were an extension of her family along with her fur baby Lucee.
As we gather to remember Alice, let us honor her legacy by carrying forward her spirit of kindness and generosity. In her name, we encourage everyone to perform a random act of kindness- big or small- to spread the love, warmth, and joy to others. May this simple gesture be a reminder of the kindness she shared with all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her wake on Thursday, March 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home; 36 Washington Avenue; North Haven. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at St. Rita's Church/St. Paul VI Parish, 1620 Whitney Avenue; Hamden on Friday morning, March 28th at 11:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, Alice's family would be deeply grateful for donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude’s Place; Memphis, TN 38105. www.northhavenfuneral.comAlice Avallone Obituary
