After graduating Great Bend High School I enlisted in the US Navy. I spent my whole 4 years at sea, as a gunners mate of guns, 2nd class. My last ship was the USS Mt. Hood an ammunition ship which spent most of the time in the Tonkin Gulf, off the shores of Viet Nam passing ammo to Navy war ships.
