I served as a Grenadier for Alfa Co 1 of the 5th, Black Knights, 1st Air Cav from 2.14.68 until I was WIA at LZ Peanuts (about a click (1000 yds) south west of Khe Sanh on May 5, 1968. I finished my service as a 71H30, Personnel Specialist, got GI's wounded in Viet Nam reassigned after treatment at Irwin Army Hospital, Ft Riley KS. Served just over 22 years retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Served in both Armor and Cavalry units, numerous staff officer positions from battalion up to Army Headquarters at the Pentagon. Served the last 5 years as an Acquisition Corps Officer which I continued doing after retirement supporting both Army and Marine Corps acquisition programs as a defense contractor.
