About Me | I am retired from "full time employment". Prior to retirement I was a Systems Engineer (programmer / analyst) for EDS from April 1980 until December 2007, when I retired. EDS offered an early buyout that I could not refuse. EDS is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Hewlet-Packard Corporation (HP.) I worked on the ENRON account from Sep 1990 until Dec 1993, when I transferred to a USDA account in Kansas City in Jan 1994. I worked on the PCIMS (Processed Commodity Inventory Management System) task for the first two years. Then I was transferred to the COPS (Cotton Online Processing System) task, where I remained until my retirement. In the 16 years prior to EDS, I worked for Firstier Bank in Lincoln, NE as a Programmer / Analyst. I was an Assistant Vice President in the Computer Systems Division until EDS took over the bank's data processing and all the people in 1980. For retirement and benefit purposes I had 43 years service. I took a part-time job at Cartridge World in April, 2009 to keep myself busy a couple days a week, and to earn a little extra spending money. I am a laser cartridge tech, and I remanufacture laser toner cartridges. We have two kids. Our son, Jon Jr lives in Lincoln, NE and is the manager of the West O Street McDonald's store in Lincoln. On January 13, 2011, he and his wife Stephanie made us proud grandparents for the first time with the birth of our grand daughter - Savannah Marie Kruse - 6lbs 10oz - 19" long. We are both so happy about this new arrival to our family! On March 19, 2011 Stephanie became an official member of our family, by marrying our son Jon. She is the store manager of the Walmart store in Crete, NE. On March 20, 2011 Savannah was baptized. What a wonderful weekend! Our daughter, Lori, lives in Kansas City with her husband Tom. Tom is a Solutions Architect for HP, and Lori is a Account Executive for EMC Corporation. She markets storage solutions to institutions of higher learning. Her territory is in Missouri and Kansas, so she's not on the road as much as she used to be. Lyla, my wife of 45 years, retired from her job as the manager of the school cafeteria at Lee's Summit North High School in June of 2011...(read more) |
