About Me | After I spent 3 years in the Army (1 year in Vietnam and 1-1/2 years at Ft. Carson, CO, my wife Margaret (Hild - Northwest Class of 65) and I returned to GI. I designed houses for Johnson Cashway for 6 months until I returned to Springer Fixture (my employer before I entered the Army) designing kitchens for the food service industry (restaurants, schools, nursing homes, and assisted living centers hospitals etc.) On March 1, 1970, a former Springer employee started Mid-Nebraska Restaurant Supply and I was the first employee doing the same thing. I worked for Mid-Nebraska until I retired on September 30, 2012. Mid-Nebr.was purchased by TOBA, Inc. October 1, 2012. TOBA owns The Thompson Co. here in GI and 5 other companies in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. They all sell food products to the food service industry. I was asked to stay on part time until they could find a replacement. The company name was changed to Midwest Restaurant Supply due to the area the food companies cover and an office that we have opened in Kansas City to cover Kansas and western Missouri. I am still there, almost every day. I must be hard to replace (or I'm just dumb). Margaret also retired from the Bureau of Reclamation September 30, 2012 At least she has stayed retired. Our daughter Kim and family (including our new great-grandson) live in Longmont, CO, She is an insurance agent in Boulder. Our oldest son and family live in Omaha. He installs and trains personnel on how to use computer aided design programs. He has even been to England with his job. Our youngest son lives in Bowie, MD (between Washington DC and Baltimore. He retired from the Air Force August 31, 2012 after 15 years when he qualified for an early out and got credit for 20 years., We did get to vi...(read more) |
