About Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On December 31, 2021, Marion (Peterson) Medearis joined her heavenly family and gained her wings.
Marion Ray Peterson “Pete” to so many, was born July 25, 1947, in St. Paul, NE to Albert Otto “Bus” Peterson and Ruby Maxine (Wagner) Peterson.
Marion was a compassionate spirit whose passion was laughing and spending time with others. Marion enjoyed gardening, her flowers in her yard, and just enjoying the great outdoors through travel and adventure. Marion also enjoyed reading novels and finding delicious recipes in cookbooks. She thoroughly enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren.
Marion graduated from high school in 1965 from Grand Island, NE. She furthered her education and became a nurse. She worked the majority of her adult life. She was a Webmaster and Project Manager for Amdahl in California. She was a 9-year member of the Emergency Rescue Team, and a volunteer for several Pro-Am golf tournaments. She worked at a concert venue in California and never missed a Grateful Dead appearance. Semi-retirement and her children and grandchildren moved her to Broken Arrow, OK in 2000. She worked as a waitress at Jake’s and Cotton Patch in Tulsa. OK. Her most precious and rewarding occupation though was mom to her three children, whom she loved.
Marion is survived by her husband Robert Medearis,
Her oldest son, Kenneth Machan, and fiancé Christy Cole of Springdale, AR, and his children, Kayse Jordan, of Kentucky. Kaylor John and Kamryn Joanne of NW Arkansas.
Her only daughter Kelly Reddish and husband Jason and their son Kaden Jacob are all of Elm Springs, AR.
Marion’s youngest son Kirby and wife Kristie and their children Kyler Jacob, and Kamdyn Jae, all of Springdale.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents Ruby and Albert ”Bus” of Grand Island, NE. Her sister Carol Louise (Peterson) Gardner of Kansas City, MO. Her nephew Thad Alexander Gardner of Kansas City, MO, and her very own precious grandson Kole Joseph Machan of Springdale, AR.
Marion succumbed to bowel obstruction and liver disease at INTEGRis Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City on December 31, 2021. Although her health was not terrible, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her indomitable spirit kept her fighting through the pain. She was 74 years old. She was surrounded in love with her children by her side.
We grieve the loss of a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, wife, and friend but we rejoice in her true happiness of being at peace with all that life threw her way.
We will celebrate with an online celebration of life as we remember and share the love of Marion through stories and pictures of how you remember and love her. Please utilize her FB page to post your fondest, funniest, or most special memory of her. Every year it will pop up and we can continue to love her and remember what a special person she is to us all.
We can no longer see you with our eyes or touch you with our hands, but we will feel you in our hearts forever. ??
