Russ Theisen now lives in Colorado Springs, CO. with his wife Ann, They have raised a family and sent them through college. Our son, Timothy Mark Theisen lives in Huston, Texas and runs a Books-A-Million Book Store. And our daughter, Yvette Marie Theisen, is married and raising a family in Colorado Springs, CO. We are very proud of our family. Today, Russ Theisen has retired form his third carrier. First- Military,(USMC) Second-Aerospace & Defense, Third- Manufacturing. Now Russ retired after 10 years from SANMINA-SCI, the worlds premier EMS [Electronic Manufacturing Services]Company. We have some 52,000+ employees, working at [97] manufacturing plants, that are located in [24+]countries. After working [30] years in Defense related Computer Science, and Software development, Russ has retired in 1992, from Martin Marietta Aerospace. He was the Software Quality Manager of the Technology Division of SANMINA-SCI. He chose an Engineering carrier, even after several of his high school teachers - in Norfolk, Virginia, were saying that he should not choose this carrier, since he was not an "A" student. Things did not come easy to him then, and they still don't. But, he wanted to know, how things worked, and how to make them work better, or at least, differently. This thirst for knowledge, led him to do things that are far different from most. Since he did have to worry about the cost of things, and where the money was going to come from, he chose a carrier path, that provided the knowledge he sought, while minimizing financial expenditures. Russ spent [12]+ years in the military service. Because, there, he could go to school and the government would cover his living necessities and pay him for it. They only required, that he do well, and that he teach others what he had learned. So, Russ spent over [6] years in schools gaining over [10,000]class-room hours of instruction. This was done in some [32]technical and military schools. Russ then instructed for [6] more years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. During this time, he continued to go to school. Russ was able to get his Engineering degrees in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. Russ has held Professional Engineering Licenses in two states, New York and Florida. He was, also, a Certified Professional Manager. He was a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Russ did not choose the path well traveled. He chose a different carrier path. One, that was not like those who climb the business ladder, by being pulled toward the top with help from family friends. Advancing by who they knew. Instead, he usually chose to do the thing that interested him the most. Russ said usually, because his family came first. Many times he did what was best for them and put his interests on hold for 20 years or so. While he gained knowledge and experience.
Wisdom - Try to be open minded, Everyone, knows more than you do, about something, But for you to benefit, you must be willing to learn.
Finding people with an open mind, has been a hard thing to do. On the other hand, finding people that want to argue or debate, is an easy thing to do. They are everywhere. Remember to keep an open mind. Yesterdays facts, are being found to be to days myths.
Russ has never met anyone that, could not teach him something. Through his mentoring, he has helped influence the growth and knowledge of thousands of students, by teaching them what he has learned. Some even listen.
Good students wanted to know new things, so they pay attention and asked questions. "It doesn't matter how interesting your information is, if nobody's paying attention".
