CONCORD ­ Kimberly S. Butler, 45, of South Street, died at her home after a long illness.

Born in Goffstown, she was the daughter of William and Beverly (Hill) Butler. Her family moved to Manchester. When her mother remarried, the family lived in New Boston for several years. She had lived in the Concord area since 1977.

She was a graduate of Goffstown High School, Class of 1974, and New Hampshire College School of Human Services, Class of 1983.

In February 1976, a Reader's Digest article on religious cults referred to her experience at the University of New Hampshire.
She was actively involved speaking out against cults and was featured in a Concord Monitor article in 1981.

She worked in various positions for the state of New Hampshire; the Sweepstakes Commission, several jobs in the Health and Human Services Department, and for the Department of Transportation. She volunteered for the NH Head Injury Association, as a literacy volunteer for Project Second Start, and for the Division of Behavioral Health Office of Consumer Affairs.

Mrs. Butler loved horses and was a former member of the New Hampshire Horse and Trail Association and the 4-H Club.

Family members include a brother, Jeffrey Butler of Hillsboro; an aunt; an uncle, H. Channing Hill of Goffstown; two nieces and three nephews.
