Class of 1960

"College Kansas State University-BA, 1966;MS,1980 Oklahoma State University--EdD, 1985 Workplace I grew up on a wheat farm near Wichita, KS. After graduating from Kansas State University I was drafted and graduated from the Infantry Officers Candidate School at Ft. Benning, GA on Feb. 1, 1968, the first day of the Tet Offensive in Viet Nam. My luck held in that the Army commissioned me in the Intelligence Branch, sent me to Airborne and Intelligence Schools, and assigned me to Munich, Germany in a civilian clothing job as Commander of the U.S. Army Europe Interrogation Center. Not wanting to miss any experiences in life, I volunteered for two tours in Viet Nam, serving as a Phoenix adviser in the Highlands and commanding an Intelligence Collection Unit in Saigon. I married Midge Pineiro between Viet Nam tours, a girl from Hollywood, CA that I had met in Munich. I also served later as the Deputy Commander for Operations of the counter-Intelligence unit in West Berlin. While in that assignment Midge died suddenly of a brain tumor at the age of 30, leaving me with a 22 month old boy and a 2 month premature baby girl that was taken after her mother died. After returning from Europe I was teaching ROTC at Kansas State University where I met and married Faye Ann Price who was on the faculty there at the time. After leaving the Army I got my MS degree from KSU and came to OSU to pursue my Doctorate. Upon completion of that degree, I served for 10 years in OSU International Programs where I traveled the world extensively and negotiated with foreign governments for OSU education and research projects. I was also instrumental in establishing the OSU branch campus in Kyoto, Japan. From 1993 to 2004 I was the Senior Project Manager for the Institute for Telecommunications at OSU. I retired from Oklahoma State University in July, 2004 and am now enjoying the opportunity to set my own schedule. In June, 2010 I attended my 50th High School class reunion and getting the chance to visit with my classmates, most of whom I had not seen in 50 years, was extremely enjoyable and brought back many good memories.
