Lowell Gerard Evans

Class of 1979

The Village for Epilepsy Awareness
1204 Ferndale Court
Va.Beach, Va.23464 April 12, 2012

Dear Gloucester Alumni,

My name is Lowell G.Evans. I am a 1979 Graduate of Gloucester High School. “I have epilepsy, but epilepsy does not have me.” This is the quote that I have lived by after developing this condition over 30 years ago.

Epilepsy is one of the most misunderstood health conditions ever witnessed by mankind. Although epilepsy has been around since the beginning of time, people with epilepsy are still “suffering” all because of the “lack of knowledge” of this invisible condition.

The myths and stigmas that have been associated with epilepsy are still running rapid because the “education” of epilepsy has not been shared. Little do people know that some of the most successful people in history and in present time have experienced this condition. This group includes a US President, Hollywood Actors, professional athletes, and famous inventors. With all of this being true, “The Eyes of Mankind” needs to take another look at epilepsy.

I have been blessed to have a novel published, “The Village”. This novel shows how the people of a neighborhood come together in love to save a man’s self-esteem, his job, and his family. Many people will be able to relate to this story. The sale of “The Village” has been very successful.

I have done epilepsy seminars and book signings, and I have also been on the TBN talk show, “Joy in Our Town”. All of this is being done to eradicate the ignorance of epilepsy and to bring us all closer together as a “village”. I based the novel on the old proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.” The novel is being discussed at this time to become a movie with “Messenger Films.” I have also been trained by the state of New Jersey on the “Thinking about Epilepsy” program which I have shared with the students in the area.

With me being raised on the old proverb about the village, I realized that Ware Neck and Gloucester County were the "first villages" in my life. This "villages" made me what I am today.

I have dedicated my life to educating people about epilepsy which also many times brings on discrimination. Please contact me anytime to help me in my efforts to inspire people to overcome not only epilepsy but all health conditions. I am available for speaking engagements as well.
