I first met Geechie in grade school--Iowa Maple. I believe it was Iowa Maple but could be wrong. My family moved a lot. What I do remember is that he always looked after me, always took to me and protected me. You see, Geechie had juice back in the day.

We reconnected at Patrick Henry junior high. He always called me "little man" at that time. He used to try to get me to cut class. But he never cut class. I asked him one day why he wanted me to cut class although he never did. He said "Little Man, I wanted to see if you were damn fool enough to do it." That was 7th grade for me. Then I transferred. We moved out of the district.

Didn't see Geech again until high school. He was still me cat, even though we didn't hang out much. Time and distance can change a relationship. But then a few years later, we reconnected again, in college, Central State. We became members of the same social organization. I suppose it was like a historical novel where people come, go, reunite, and begin to understand the gravity and grace and beauty of true friendship. I miss Geech. I loved my friend.

Geech was Norris's line name in college. He loved it; I loved it; but most importantly, the brothers loved it and him. Stay strong in heaven Geech and know that the brothers share memories of you all the time.
