Aviation Electronics/Navigation Technician PO2 Attached to Air Wing Squadron with detachments aboard USS Ktty Hawk and USS Constellation. Duty tour 1968-70 Vietnam veteran.

Entered service in June 1954 after graduation from Washington HS. Completed basic training at Lackland AFB. Served at Kelly AFB (1954-1957), Scott AFB (1957-1958), Donaldson AFB (1958-1959), Charleston AFB (1959-1961), Orlando AFB (1961-1962), Zweibrucken, Germany (1962-1964), Randolph AFB (1964-1965) and the Pentagon (1966-1967). Duties included six years as aircraft loadmaster and seven years as digital computer programmer. Served an additional eight years as training systems designer in the Air Force Reserves. Retired in 1986 with the grade of Master Sergeant (E7).

Took Basic Training at Ft. Lewis Washington, took AIT at Ft. Ord, Calif, went on to South Eastern Signal School in Agusta, Georgia, served as communications specialist(Radio Teletype) in Pleiku, South Viet Nam (Central Highlands) with the 219th Army Aviation Headhunters, Camp Holloway, our unit flew Recon missions with Birdog planes which were 2 seater Cessnas.

Joined US Navy September 29, 1971. Completed basic training and Radioman "A" School in my birthplace of San Diego, California. Served on USS Preble DLG-15, home-ported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii from May 1972 to July 1st, 1975. Assigned to Mid-Station and the DMZ Gunline off the coast of Vietnam from 1972 to 1973. USS Preble has the distinction of being the last naval ship to be hit by enemy fire during the Vietnam War. In late 1973, was sent to the Gulf of Aqaba and Persian Gulf during the Yom Kippur War to prevent the Soviet Union from entering the conflict on Egypt's side. Left the US Navy on July 1st, 1975 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as a Radioman Second Class.

WWII - in traioning for invasion of Japan 1945 Commissioned 2d Lt from Infantry OCS 1946 Military Governor of Korean county (G00N) 1946-48. Cadet at US Military Academy, West Point, 1948-1952 Korea - Infantry platoon leader, executive officer and company commander. Wounded in action - 1953 Occupation of Germany - 1956-1958 Mission to Ethiopia to train its army - 1957 Planned and executed movement of 187th Airborne Battle Groupfrom Germany to Lebanon in 1958. Returned to Germany after 4 months. Operations advisor to the 7th Division, Army of the Republicof Vietnam, 1964-65. Office of the Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, 1967-69. Retired, Colonel 1973

I served from 1981 to 1990. My rate and rank was RM2 (Telecommuication Petty Officer 2nd Class or E5). I did boot camp in Orlando, FL, then was station at COMMSUBGRU 1,Bangor, WA for a year and half, than was transfer to COMMSUBGRU 7, Yokosuka, JA for 4 years. After that I was send Naval Suppy Center Oakland, CA for 2 years and was release.

Served in the U.S. Army, from 1976 ---1981. I did my basic training & "AIT" (Advanced Individual Training) at Fort Bliss (El Paso, Texas). I then went to my permanent party station, an Air Defense Artillery Unit-----2/62 ADA, 10th Group, 32nd AADCOM. I was stationed at a "Hawk" Battalion in the area of Bitburg / Spangdahlem, Germany, my entire enlistment.
