Duties included six years as aircraft loadmaster and seven years as digital computer programmer.
Served an additional eight years as training systems designer in the Air Force Reserves. Retired in 1986 with the grade of Master Sergeant (E7).

In late 1973, was sent to the Gulf of Aqaba and Persian Gulf during the Yom Kippur War to prevent the Soviet Union from entering the conflict on Egypt's side. Left the US Navy on July 1st, 1975 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as a Radioman Second Class.
