About Theresa Meyer, 89, of Perrysburg, formerly of Curtice, Ohio, died on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at her residence at The Waterford at Levis Commons. She was born December 26, 1922, in Curtice to Joseph Portale and Agnes (DeLuca) Portale. In death, she will be joining her parents; first husband, Myron Kersten; second husband, Charles Meyer, to whom she was married for 42 years; brother, Samuel Portale, and sister, Jane Haley. Surviving are her beloved son, Dennis (Ann) Kersten; grandchildren, Ann Marie Kersten, Brian (Jodi) Kersten, Brad (Sara) Kersten, and Kevin (Molly) Kersten; 10 great-grandchildren, and sister, Carmela Haley. Theresa graduated from Genoa High School in 1941 and recently attended her 70th class reunion. As second generation owner, she operated Portales Café in Curtice until 1977, when she entered retirement. Theresa was a devoted member of First St. John Church and Auxiliary member of American Legion Christ Dunberger Post 537. She volunteered at St. Charles Hospital for 20 years and was an avid cook and gardener, who loved crocheting, quilting, traveling, watching baseball, boating, and fishing. Theresa found her greatest enjoyment in spending time with family. She spent countless hours watching her grandchildren participate in sports, choir, band, plays, and musicals. She will be remembered for her committed, loving presence in the lives of those who survive her. Friends of Theresa may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, April 13, 2012, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. with Dunberger Post Auxiliary Services at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Allen Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that tributes in Theresa's memory be made to the Dunberger Post Auxiliary or First St. John Lutheran Church
