About James W. Foss, 70, of Curtice, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon. Jim was born July 15, 1935, in Graytown to William E. and Marie E. (Younker) Foss. He graduated from Genoa High School and not long ago celebrated his 50th class reunion. On September 12, 1987, in Port Clinton, he married Elaine C. Keils and she survives. Jim retired in 1987 from L.O.F. Plant 6 in Rossford after 32 years, where he worked in the Experimental Dept.
Jim had a strong faith, and his church was central in his life, where he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston. Jim served in the Army and National Guard for over 8 years. His memberships included the American Legion Dunberger Post #537, the Kiwanis, the Masonic Lodge No. 433 of Genoa and the Port Clinton Chapter #267 O.E.S, the Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, 32nd Degree; the Zenobia Shriners of Toledo as well as the Ottawa County Shrine Club, International Order of the Blue Gavel, and the Zenobia Mariners, where he served as Past Commodore.
He enjoyed buying and selling at flea markets but mostly enjoyed being with other people. Jim was always there to help others. He had a large heart and a gentle spirit and was loved and forever will be missed.
In addition to his wife, Elaine, Jim is survived by his brother, Richard H. (Carol) Foss of Martin; nieces, Lisa (Tony) Melatich, Dominic and Vincent, of Oregon, and Wendy (Seth) Alder and Aeden of Toledo; Elaine's children, DeEtta (David) Kaderbek of Jacksonville, NC, Scott (Lolita) Keils of New York, and Robert (Trish) Keils of Painesville, OH; grandchildren, Darrell, Nikki, Robert James, Deanna, Jon, Kelly, and David, and great-grandchild, Elayna. His parents and son, Kenneth J. Keils, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa, with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mariner's service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening. Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006, in St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, with interment to follow in Allen Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, or the Zenobia Shrine Learning Disability Program
