About | Frank Ackerman, age 64, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 23, 2010. He was born to Roy and Helen Ackerman on September 23, 1946. He was a graduate of Genoa High school, Class of 1964. He then served in the United States Army for several years. Frank then followed in his father's and brother's footsteps and became a bricklayer working for Rudolph Libbe, through the union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsworkers, Local 3, retiring in 2004 after 38 years. Frank had a great love for classic cars and going to area car shows, and volunteered at Our Lady of Toledo Shrine, putting in the brick walkway. Frank was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, no matter the circumstance. He is known as a dedicated husband, loving father, and a devoted "PAPA". He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Catherine; daughters, Jenifer (Derek), Elizabeth, Mary (Zach), and Janet; grandchildren, Braeden, Madeline and Shelly; mother, Helen; brothers, Ronald (Jerri), Robert (Karen), William (Randy); sisters, Patty, Jane (Bernie) and Sue (Joe); sister-in-law, Suzanne; brother-in-law, Christopher (Diane); sister-in-laws, Sue "Fritzie" (Dominic), Jane (Al), and Sue; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy; brother, Michael; brother-in-law, Edward; sister-in-law, Janet; nephew, Joey and brother-in-law Jack. Friends may visit at the Eggleston, Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Sunday from 2-9 pm, Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin with prayers in the funeral home on Monday at 9:15 am with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Ignatius Church. Interment will take place at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Frank was blessed with many friends throughout the years, and everywhere he went he seemed to make new ones. The family would like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio and their staff, especially Tracey Dippman and Dr. Gerry Steiner for the wonderful care and support that they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or St. Ignatius Catholic Church building fund in Oregon, Ohio. |
