About Dr. Mark Nitschke, 40, of 18120 Roettger Road, Botkins, Ohio, died 10:25 P.M. Monday, March 10, 2008, at the Centinela Freeman Hospital in Marina Del Ray, California, following a battle with cancer.

He was born April 8, 1967, in Fremont, Ohio, the son of Lon and Gloria (Shelley) Nitschke. They survive in Fremont.

He married Linda Schade on November 12, 1994; she survives at the residence. Mark is survived by his two children: Marcus and Lauren Nitschke of the home; by a sister Nichole Nitschke of Bowling Green, Ohio; by his in-laws, Ed and Sharon Schade of Helena, Ohio; by his paternal grandmother, Mildred Burns of Fremont; maternal grandmother, Bonnie Shelley of Fremont; by three nephews: Alex, Jacob and Brayden Schade; by a niece, Sophia Shirk; by his wife's siblings and spouses, Andrew (Lynette) Schade of Rocky River, Ohio; Alisa (Scott) Shirk of Cincinnati; Scott (Ashley) Schade of New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Melvin Shelley and Harold Nitschke.

Mark was a 1985 graduate of Fremont Ross High School; he attended Ohio State University and was graduated from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois in 1992.

Dr. Nitschke was a chiropractic physician, having first practiced with the Cramer Chiropractic Clinic in Wauseon, Ohio for two years; he was associated with Saint Marys Chiropractic for 13 years and started his own practice, Nitschke Chiropractic Wellness Center in 2006.

He was a member of the Saint Mary Kiwanis Club, had served on the board of the Auglaize County Crisis Center, was a member of the Saint Marys Chamber of Commerce and the Southwest Auglaize County Chamber.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys.

He enjoyed building, constructing things, working around the house, playing the piano and lifting weights.

Services: 11 A.M. Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys, Father Anthony Cutcher, celebrant.

Burial: Gethsemane Cemetery, Saint Marys.

Visitation: 5 -9 P.M. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, where memorial donations may be directed to a scholarship fund that is being set up by is family for future scholars in Dr. Nitschke’s name in lieu of flowers.
