About | VICKERY: Gene Howard Perry, 57, of Riley Township, Vickery, died unexpectedly at his farm on Friday, May 28, 2010. Gene was born on March 11, 1953 to the now deceased Robert W. and Jane E. (Wright) Perry. He attended Riley School through the eighth grade; graduated from Fremont Ross in 1971; then The Ohio State University in 1975. He was an Agent and Director for Farmers Mutual for many years and co –owner of Perry Rentals, Tents, Tables and Chairs, but being a farmer was his joy. Gene became the Chairman of Perry Family Traditions, following the death of his parents and the grandparents he knew, Roy Perry and Porter and Hazel Wright. He was extremely community and civic minded and reached out to everyone with his good natured and positive attitude toward all things. He was a member and a trustee of the Vickery United Methodist Church; member of The Ohio State Alumni Assoc, and Chaired the OSU Scholarship Fund; member of the Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity; a forty-nine year member of the Riley Boosters 4-H Club, and also a Booster of the Club; served on the Sun Rise Co-Op Board; member of the Fremont Young Farmers and the Sandusky Co. Farm Bureau; served on the Riley Twp. Zoning Appeals Board; the 1998 recipient of the Sandusky Co. Chamber of Commerce Farmer of the Year; former Chairman of the National Young Farmers; Ohio Young Farmers Past President in 1980. Mr. Perry was an avid sports fan, for Ohio State University; Cleveland and Ross High. Survivors include his siblings, Parmelia (Tom) Boyer, Lindsey, Mary Jane (John) Gibson, Catawba, Beth E. Perry Pasco, WA, and Joe Robert (Karen) Perry, Vickery; his nieces and nephews, Jane Kaminski, Abby Heckman, Gary Boyer, Eric Boyer, Emily Conboy, Jack Gibson, Justin R. Perry, Andrea (A.J.) Perry, Lea-Ann Wilson and Tony Roob; along with eighteen great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Perry Family Farm, in Vickery at 10:30 a.m., the family will be present one hour prior to the funeral, with Pastor Doug Gildenmeister officiating. Burial will be in Parkhurst Cemetery, Clyde. Memorials may be made to the Vickery United Methodist Church; Sandusky Co. 4-H Endowment Fund; or the Sandusky County OSU Scholarship Fund.
