About	FREMONT: Rodney J. "Rod" Burkett, 63, of Fremont, died on Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. He was born on January 31, 1947 in Fremont to the now deceased Russell and Esther (Smith) Burkett. He was a 1965 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. In April of 1966 Rod joined the Unites States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. He married Linda Widman at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont, where Rod was a member. He was employed at EPCO as an electrical engineer until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Along with his wife, Linda, Rod is survived by children, Rob (Andrea) Burkett of Fremont, Scott (Linda) Burkett of Sandusky, and Sharon Fox of Fremont; and grandchildren, Molly Burkett, Maurene Fox and Jared Fox; and step-grandchild, Gabriela Steinke. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy McFadzen; step-grandchild, Nic Codispoti. Visitation will be on Monday, February 15, from 2 - 8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Ohio Veterans Home, or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
