About FREMONT: Brian Charles Meek, 52, of Fremont, died Monday morning at the Cleveland Clinic after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

He was born February 24, 1957 the son of Charles and Dorothy (Speir) Meek. Brian was a 1975 Graduate of Fremont Ross High School and earned his Associates of Mechanical Engineering from Terra Community College. On August 20, 1977 he married his high school sweetheart, Kimberly J. Shoemaker at Memorial United Methodist Church in Fremont. He worked in the maintenance department for Crown Battery and was most recently a Mechanical Engineer for Whirlpool. Brian was a member of Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, an avid Buckeye fan, enjoyed woodworking, painting and cooking. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially riding his bicycle on the bike trail, walking at Walsh Park with his wife and dog, vacationing in Aruba, fishing, golfing, and gardening.

Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Kimberly J. Meek of Fremont; daughter, Dawn (Matt) Hedrick of Fort Jennings, OH; son, Michael (Ashley) Meek of Perrysburg, OH; parents, Charles and Dorothy Meek of Fremont, OH; brother, Greg (Ann Marie) Meek of Fremont, OH; sister, Amy (Dennis) Schwartz of Columbus, OH; and his dog Zoe; in-laws, Ron and Donna Shoemaker of Fremont, OH; brothers-in-law, Kraig (Kris) Shoemaker of Grove City, OH, Kris (Michelle) Shoemaker of Bluffton, OH; sister-in-law, Kelly (Steve) Marks of Richlandtown, PA; five nieces; and seven nephews.

Visitation will take place Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH; A celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Denise Turpin will officiate, assisted by Deacon Jeremy Kramer. Burial will follow at McGormley Cemetery, Fremont. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lymphoma Society, The Sandusky County Parks Department or the family.
