About | Walter F. “Walt†Lamalie, 72, of Fremont died on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born in Fremont on June 2, 1937 to the now deceased Arthur and Irene (Hughes) Lamalie, and graduated from Ross High School with the Class of 1956. Walt was a Navy veteran who served as an Aviation Structural Mechanic 3rd Class on the USS Princeton. He was employed by Columbia Gas as foreman on a digging crew for over 25 years. He had formerly worked at Kroger and had also been a taxi driver. Walt enjoyed camping, fishing and bowling, and was an Ohio State fan. He was a regular coffee-drinker at the area Denny’s and Burger King, and was a member of the Eagles. He loved his family, and had a special relationship with his grandson. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Christine (Butch) Trimble; grandson, Dylan James Trimble; sisters, Mary Lou Homan of Fremont and Nancy Stearns of Burgoon. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Warren F. Lamalie; and other siblings, Ruth Ann Elmer, James Arthur and Norma Jean Dubbert. Visitation for Walt will be on Tuesday, December 1, from 2 – 4 and 7 -9 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. The Fremont Eagles will perform a service during the evening visitation. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home where there will be an hour of visitation starting prior to the service, with Pastor Dan Howard officiating. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion and VFW posts. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagles, American Diabetes Association or for stroke research. |
