About | COLUMBUS: Anne Elizabeth (Althoff) Damschroder, passed away Monday, 15 June, 2009, in Columbus, Ohio, after prolonged illnesses. A memorial service at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg, Ohio will be Friday, 19 June, at 12 noon followed by a reception, Rev. Blair Miller officiating. Anne was born 12 August, 1936 in Fremont, Ohio, daughter of Oscar Emil Carl and Alice Deane (Rachels) Althoff; baptized 29 November, 1936 by her great grandfather, Rev. C.H. Althoff; and confirmed 2 April, 1950 by Rev. E.E. Zimmerman. Graduating from Fremont Ross High School in 1954, she enjoyed marching band, softball, volleyball, basketball, fencing, Girls State, and elected offices. She graduated in 1958 from Capital University with a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology participating in Science Club and Medical Technologies groups. On 21 June, 1959 she married Willis Damschroder. She was an inspirational mother to her children actively encouraging them in their areas of interest while also volunteering with medical, social, and civic organizations, Project Hope and Delphians. Anne was active at Zion and especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Bible School. She had an adventurous and curious nature and enjoyed the many trips in the US and around the world with her children. She was also an inspiration to her grandchildren who will remember the loving consideration she had for each of them and the time spent together. Anne lives in the memories of her children, Kathryn (Inocencio) Orta, Mark, and Patricia (Kirk) Saunders; grandchildren, Kayla, Victoria, Inocencio, and Christopher Orta, Katrina and Ellise Damschroder; step grandchildren, Erin and Travis Saunders; siblings, Raymond, Ronald (Nina), Jeanne Eakin, Robert (Marguerite), and Marilyn Roberts; brother-in-law, Robert Eakin; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Elizabeth; sisters-in-law, Helma (Schuster) and Janet (Swartzlander) Althoff; and brother-in-law, Rev. Kenneth Roberts. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be given in her name to the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church - Bell Tower Fund, 500 S. Brentwood Dr., Gibsonburg, Ohio 43431. |
