| About Me | I now live in the rural and mountainous area of North Central Washington State. At age 18, I served in the military during Vietnam as a Flight Medic aboard the UH-1H Huey. I am grateful that I had that opportunity to be of service to my Country. I hold degrees in health education, drama, and language arts. I taught 7th grade for a few years before continuing my education to become a licensed Midwife. Eventually, I took a position with the Chelan-Douglas Health District. In 2003 I left my position of 17 years as the Director of Health Education for that health district. On October 16, 2004 I opened the doors to my barbecue restaurant. In 2016 I sold the restaurant for a good profit. I decided to attend Bates Community/Vocational college for 5 months to become a 48 State, over-the-road commercial truck driver as a retirement job. After three years of trucking, I decided to stay close to home and work as a substitute school bus and transit bus driver. I currently enjoy a new career as an Interpretive Guide during the Spring thru Fall seasons. During this time I will live and work at one of our National Parks conducting bus tours which guide and educate visitors on the history, flora and fauna, and the natural wonders they are observing. For example, at Grand Canyon National Park I will include subjects like the geological, paleontological, and historical human occupation in a fun and meaningful way. I will also engage visitors with stories of the characters, tall tales, and the history of how the area became a National Park that is a popular place for people to visit. If I decide not to work for the National Park Service, I will head to Southeastern Alaska to work as an Interpretive Tour Guide for a commercial touring company with whale watching and historic tours of the region. During the Fall to early Spring seasons I will be found at my home (or backpacking up in the Cascades) in the North Central Washington area.
