Joined the Navy in August 1989. Served many overseas deployments throughout his career on submarines USS Baltimore, USS Pennsylvania, and USS Montpelier. Shore duty at NAS Jacksonville Navy Brig in Florida and Submarine Training Facility in Norfolk, Virginia. Also served 6 months emergency Temporary Duty at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. ET1 Dye has earned the Joint Services Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and Joint Meritorious Medal, among several others. ET1 Dye will retire from the US Navy after 20 years of distinguished service in August 2009.

Planned and coordinated uninterrupted fuel supply support for nine bases of operation and 16,000 personnel during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games which generated over 84 contracts worth over 6 million dollars.
