I began my military career in June 1973 when I enlisted in the United States Army. After basic training I attended the Heavy Equipment Operators Course. Upon graduation I was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri as a member of the 5th Engineer Battalion. In Jan 1975, I was transferred to 130th Engineer Brigade in Hanau, Germany. After completing my 3 year active duty enlistment I transferred to the US Army Reserve.
My first Army Reserve assignment was to the US Army Mobilization Support Detachment in St. Louis, MO. I worked in positions of increasing responsibility throughout the detachment and was the First Sergeant when the unit was deactivated in 1990. From there I transferred to the 424th Maintenance Company in Rolla, MO. I served there from 1990 to 1993 also in the position of First Sergeant. I transferred to the 6025th Garrison Support Unit in St. Louis and was mobilized in 1997-1998 for Operation Joint Guard as the Acting Command Sergeant Major. My unit was part of the peace keeping force assigned to NATO in Germany, Hungary and Bosnia. Upon completion of this mobilization I retired after 25 years of service.
I graduated from the 5th Army Noncommissioned Officer course, Primary Leadership Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. I hold an Associate in Science, Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration Degrees from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO.
