On 12 June 1968 I was honorably released from active duty in the Republic Of Vietnam (MOS 12A as a pioneer,27 July 1967 through 15 November 1967 and MOS 11B as a rifleman, 16 November 1967 through 4 June 1968) after having participated in the following campaigns: Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase III(Thanksgiving Battle of 1967 for hill 63, where my friend Ronald Essler was killed); Tet Counteroffensive(Hill 445); and Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase IV(West of Da Nang) with Company C and then Company D, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment (196th Light Infantry Brigade, Americal Division) earned the Valorous Unit Award, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, RVN Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, and Two Overseas Service Bars. I'm proud to have served for my country and will always remember my fallen comrades in arms. God Bless them all. God Bless America!

Mason Demant
Class of 2005
Army, 7 Years
Joined as a combat engineer a couple months after graduating. Got stationed at Fort Bragg, NC for the first five years. Got deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Got injured during the second deployment, but managed to continue and finish the year out leading his soldiers. Upon returning to America, was transferred to Fort Lewis, WA where he was given a full medical retirement due to the extent of the injuries incurred during his last deployment.
