About Me I was born and raised in Fontana, which is in Southern California, 60 miles east of Los Angeles. Darryl is a graduate of Fontana High School where he played on the varsity tennis team and was a member of the chess club. In his youth, Darryl was very involved in 4-H, showing his prize winning dairy goats at county fairs throughout the state and obtaining the highest rank in 4-H in San Bernardino county. Darryl is a graduate of UC, Santa Cruz, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with honors. After Santa Cruz, Darryl felt he needed some balance in his education so he attended the University of Chicago, where he received his Master’s degree in Public Policy. While in Chicago, Darryl worked for Alderman Larry Bloom, which gave him his first taste of local politics. After Chicago, Darryl moved to the District of Columbia as an Urban Fellow in the local government where we worked as a Budget Analyst in the Mayor’s Budget Office. Leaving the Mayor’s Budget Office, Darryl became the Senior Budget Analyst for the University of the District of Columbia. After working in Washington, DC for many years, Darryl decided it was time to come home. So, he moved to Berkeley in 1997 where he landed a job as Council Aide to Councilmember Kriss Worthington. Currently, Darryl is a Senior Management Analyst in the City of Berkeley, in the Department of Public Works, working in the areas of budget, capital projects, and fiscal planning. In November 2000, Darryl was elected to the Peralta Community College Board of Trustees representing Albany, Emeryville, and Berkeley west of the University. Also, Darryl is on the Board of the West Berkeley Foundation, Public Library Foundation, YMCA, and Berkeley Youth Alternatives and he continues to work with parents, students, teachers and the Berkeley School Board on educational issues especi...(read more)
