James H. Melton
Class of 1962
Marine Corps, 6 Years

Naval Aviator-Piloted EA-6A Intruder in support of U..S. Forces in North Viet Nam 1972-1973. Left service as Captain with 7 Medals to include Combat Air Medal with numeral six (6). Was privileged to fly 20 of the original 27 EA-6A Intruders ever built, to include the oldest A6-A in existence "Methuselah" (#2 from the Grumman factory in 1960). My very last flight in the Marine Corps was in this aircraft (February 13, 1974). This Old Warrior was very good to its pilots. When on its delivery flight from the Grumman factory in 1960, it suffered a dual-engine flameout, resulting in a dead-stick landing. What a start of an illustrious career!

Our Fillmore Central High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Fillmore Central High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated. All of us in Geneva are proud of our military alumni and want to thank them for risking their lives to protect our country!
