About	David Alan Duke, 76, of Akron, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on March 7, 2017. Dave was born in Akron, OH on April 27, 1940 to the late Harold and Geraldine Neitz Duke. He graduated from Ellet High School in 1958. Dave was a Brick Mason all of his life and truly enjoyed his work. He started bodybuilding at the age of 15 and was awarded the title Mr. Akron in 1964. He was a devout Christian who attended The Chapel in Akron for many years. Dave was a member of the Bodybuilders Gym where he developed many friendships. He was a great outdoor enthusiast who loved hiking, mountain climbing, exploring national parks, and just appreciating God's creation. One of his greatest accomplishments was hiking the Appalachian Trail at the age of 60 where he took on the trail name of "Journey". He also enjoyed running, and completed the Akron Marathon at the age of 65. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy; and nephew, John Woods. He leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife, Candice Duke (nee Ridge); children, Kris Duke, Kathleen (Tom) Beham, and Josh Duke; the mother of his children, Barbara Duke; sisters, Noma Weekland, Carol Allrutz, and Linda Mitchell; special niece, Chloe Osborne; and many other nieces, nephews and sisters and brothers-in-law. Family will receive friends on Friday March 10, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305.
