About	Edward L. McCartt, age 66, of Naples, FL and Akron, OH passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Naples Community Hospital from heart related problems. Ed was born in Akron on May 9, 1942. He graduated from Ellet High School in 1960 and received a B.S. in Accounting from the university of Akron. Ed hired in with the Akron Equipment Company in 1965. He later became Chairman of the Board of the Akron Equipment Company and its subsidiaries: Marco Mfg. in Akron, and Hower Tool in Ossian, IN. Ed will be best remembered for his great smile and for being a good friend to many. He enjoyed golfing, tennis and playing cards with friends as well as spending the summers on the Portage Lakes. Ed was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cooking on the grill. He loved his faithful dogs Buckwheat, Copper, and Penny. Ed is survived by his mother Pauline (Fletcher) Mccarty; his devoted wife of 30 years Priscilla A. (Long) Mccarty; his children Michael (Julie) Mccarty, Shannon (David) Anderson, Leslie (Dale) Nelson, Amy Kiraly, and Matthew (Julie) Kiraly, his brother Patrick (Gloria) McCartt Jr., and sister Beverly (Gary) Powell; sisters-in-law Karen (John) Miletich and Patrice (Peter) Proferes; brother-in-law Greg Long; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Patrick McCartt Sr., and his son Edward McCartt Jr. A celebration of Ed's life was held on February 23, 2009, in Naples, FL and a memorial gathering was held in the Akron area on March 3, 2009, at the Tudor House on Turkeyfoot Lake in New Franklin. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Phi Delta Theta Scholarship Fund. Make donations payable to the University of Akron Foundation.
