About	Daniel M Roth a much-loved resident of Akron Ohio passed away January 24 2013 from kidney disease. He was 72 years old. Dan was born March 30 1940 in Akron Ohio. He was a gifted vocalist actor trumpet player and hunter. Dan graduated from Ellet High School in 1958. He was a track star and held the record for the 440 until 1974. His love for the theatre began in his teens while performing in Ellet’s theatre productions and choir. Following high school he attended Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi WV and graduated from the University of Akron. Dan moved to New York City in the 1960s to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He toured with the Harry Simone Chorale singing “Little Drummer Boy ” performed at Radio City Music Hall and managed the “Play Boy” theatre. He returned to Akron in 1974 and performed at EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall in the musical production of “The King and I” as the King of Siam wearing Yul Brenner’s costumes. Theatre was Dan’s greatest love and he also performed at Weathervane Goodyear Musical Theatre Music Carnival and Carousel. Dan’s “day job” was making patterns for tire molds. He worked at Booth and Belden Akro Model and New Castings before retiring in 2000. In 1990 Dan’s coworkers talked him into going hunting which became another passion that inspired the formation of the Akron Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) where he served as treasurer and banquet chairman for 20 years. He also served as secretary of Summit Sportsman and trustee of the Goodyear Hunting and Fishing Club. Dan was very proud of his first Tom Turkey obtained from Partridge Trap Farm which weighed 23 ½ pounds had a 10 ¾ inch beard and 1 ¾ inch spears. Dan leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years Nancy Roth. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He is survived by his son Daniel Roth (Catherine); and daughters Jessica Hayes and Bridget Hilker (Brian); as well as grandchildren Connor Hayes; Elaina Hayes; and Logan Hilker. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday January 30 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Annunciation Church 87 Broad St. in Akron.
