About Richard A. "Dick" Rouser, 71, passed away June 12, 2012. He fought a courageous 4-1/2 year battle with cancer.

Dick was an inspiration to all that knew him. He taught everyone around him that no matter how much adversity life hands you, you face it head on with a positive attitude - always LIVE STRONG!

Born on September 23, 1940 in Akron, he lived in Uniontown, Ohio for the past 34 years. Dick graduated from Ellet High School in 1958, and attended The University of Akron, earning an associate's degree in Transportation. Dick was Vice President of Transportation at Bender and Loudon Motor Freight; and retired as Manager of Labor and Employee Relations for Eastern area for ARAMARK Uniform Services. In retirement, he worked at Donzell's Garden Center in Akron with his son.

Dick's memberships included Wayfarer Lodge #789 F&AM, 32nd Degree Mason, A.A.S.R. Valley of Akron, Tadmor Shrine, Duck's Unlimited, the Ellet Alumni Association, and an active member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Henrietta Rouser and in-laws, John and Gerri Eustice, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy C. (Eustice) Rouser; son, Richard J. Rouser (Julie DiFeo); daughters, Sharon Rouser French (Mike French) and Susanne Rouser Waltman (David Waltman); grandchildren, Zachery Rouser, Michael and Jessica French, and Aaron Waltman; sister, Sylvia Figueiredo; brother-in-law, John W. Eustice III (Debbie); many special nieces, nephews and close friends.

A special thank you to Dr. Joseph Koenig's office, the staff at the Cooper Cancer Center, and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Cleveland Clinic for their kindness and compassion.

Friends may call at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St., UNIONTOWN, OH 44685, from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Grace United Methodist Church, 1720 Schneider St. N.W., North Canton, OH 44720, with Rev. Don Richards officiating. Additional visitation will take place at the church from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church at the address above; or the American Cancer Society , 525 North Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.
