About Larry R. Ramey, 71, died November 18th after a brief battle with cancer.

Preceded in death by parents, Vic and Mary Ramey of Akron; he leaves behind beloved wife, Marilyn; daughter, Traci Morrison (John) of Akron; son, Troy (Terry) of Medina; brother, Eugene (Lynette) of Medina; brother-in-law, Dale Laroue; neices, Vicki Smith, Valeri Remark, Vanessa Smole; many grandkids; cousins, and friends from around the U.S. and Canada.

Larry retired at age 58, as a V.P. Of Dean Foods. He was instrumental in bringing Reiter Dairy into the computer age in the '60's after serving in the Air Force. After retirement, he lived life to the fullest. Larry and Marilyn traveled through Europe, Mexico, and Canada with friends. Larry spent his winters snowmobiling and cross-country skiing, and the rest of the year biking 20-30 miles each day, boating, and ``playing' in his garage. He was a talented hobbiest who built wood canoes, chairs, tables, and bird houses and perfected his wine making skills. He was an avid reader and studied the histories of many countries. Above all, he cherished his time with his family, friends, and especially his grandkids, Nicole, Alexa, JJ, Clay, Ryan, Angelina, and Mathew. Over the past several years, Larry (Papa) and Marilyn (Nana) drove eight hours to their home in Canada where they would spend three weeks before making the drive back to their home in Medina to spend three weeks that revolved around their grandkids' football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, cheerleading, school plays, movies, and over-nighters. The process continued every 3 weeks.

Despite having many friends and extended family members, Dad was a very private man who accepted his fate when first diagnosed with no anger or regrets. Although many wanted to visit, he wanted everyone to remember him as he was prior to what he knew lied ahead.

Thanks to Hospice of Medina County and the many well-wishers, and special thanks to family and Larry and Barb Savoia who's soups and deserts sustained Dad through the past month. Dad (Papa), you'll never know how much you'll be missed.

A celebration of Larry's life for friends and family will take place December 11th at The Strand Banquet Room, 123 Broad Street, Wadsworth. Contact Troy at Tramey729@aol.com or The Strand for times. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Childrens Make-A-Wish Foundation.
