About	Although shy by nature, Roger loved to experience things others may not. He died doing something he loved which was skydiving. He had completed over 500 jumps. His last jump was in Xenia Ohio.
Events	Chutes tangle, skydiver dies An Akron man, Roger Varner of 178 Emmons St., was killed near Xenia Saturday when his parachute failed to open while he was skydiv. ing. Varner, 20, was a graduate of Ellet High School and was a stu- dent at Kent State University. Harry Memmer, Varner's step- father, said the man's main para- chute did not open after he jumped and his reserve parachute became tangled in the main chute. Memmer said Varner was a member of a Cleveland skydiving club and had been participating in the sport for about two years. "He really loved it," Memmer said Saturday. Arrangements will be handled by Hopkins funeral home.
