David L. Cole passed away suddenly on July 14, 2026, in Paynes Creek, California, following recent health challenges. He was 68 years old.
Born in Sacramento, California, on April 13, 1958, David graduated from Elk Grove High School with the Class of 1976. He spent much of his career on the open road working as a long-distance truck driver. He was married to Glenda Bingham on August 30, 1982.
Though his time was shorter than his loved ones had hoped, David was a big presence in the life he lived. He met life's moments with a grounded perspective, frequently reminding those around him, "It is what it is!"
David loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. He adored his sister Laura's grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
In accordance with his wishes, David’s family will scatter his ashes in Hope Valley—his favorite place to camp and fish—where he and his brother Daniel will be laid to rest. Big brother Daniel (1955-2022) was a 1973 graduate of Elk Grove High School and he played football for the HERD. David and Daniel are terribly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister, Laura Cole, and his extended family.
