About | Brad Lee Weaver, 17, an Easton area wrestling star, was killed in yesterday* in a one vehicle accident on Interstate Route 81 near Cortland, NY. Weaver would have been a senior at Easton Area High School this year. Weaver was co-captain of the wrestling team last year. In May, he served on a committee formed at the school to help resolve racial problems that had resulted in tensions there. He also took part in an Express forum to air various viewpoints of those at the school. Coaches and teammates described him as a good companion, and exceptional person. During his first year of high school wrestling, sophomore Weaver was the 95-pound class champion in the Pat Reilly Christmas Tournament and the PIAA District 11 tourney. He reached the finals of the PIAA Northeast Regional championships before he was defeated. His record as a sophomore was 20 wins and 1 loss. He was undefeated in dual meets. As a junior last year, he again captured the District 11 championship, this time in the 103-pound class, and moved onto a championship in the Northeast Regional competition. He compiled a record of 20 wins and 3 losses for the year bringing his final high school record to 40 and 4. Weaver began wrestling in sixth grade at St. Anthony’s Youth Center in Easton. Weaver did not lose a match in the three years in the center competitions. Weaver was also a Letterman in soccer during his sophomore and junior years, when he played inside right. He was to have started in a wing position this year. Born February 19, 1954, he was a son of Jacqueline Feauve Weaver of Forks Township, and the late Clifton Weaver Jr. who died in 1968. He was a member of Arndt’s Lutheran Church, Forks Township. Survivors include two brothers, Kurt Charles and Robert Brooks Weaver, and a sister Kimberly Vivian Weaver, all at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Feauve, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Weaver Sr., all of Easton.
