About | Robert W. Everett, Sr., 67, of West 3rd Street, Hazleton, died suddenly at his home on Wednesday morning. Born in Fort Jackson, SC, on February 18, 1950, he was a son of the late Carl W. and Jean P. (Kresge) Everett. Being part of a military family, Robert, as a young boy, traveled the world with his parents, spent his early years in Easton, PA and later, moved to the Hazleton area where he resided since 2003. He was a 1968 graduate of Easton Area High School and continued his education at Churchmans Business College in Easton where he earned an associate degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Following college, Robert worked as a manager for Burger King restaurants, most notably at the Easton location which had the distinction of being the largest free standing store in their worldwide chain. He also held the distinction of being the youngest head manager in the entire chain at 20 years old. He went on to manage the Budget Inn Hotel chain and Pizza Hut and was co-owner and manager of Pinocchios, his familys restaurant in Bangor, PA. He then took a management position with Laneco in their bakery in Whitehouse, NJ and was later promoted to Regional Bakery Specialist for the Laneco, Price Chopper and Price Cutter chains. Most recently, Robert was employed in the Lehigh Valley, first as bakery manager for Redners Market and lastly in the same position with Giant Market. Robert loved being outdoors gardening and enjoyed spending time painting. He was a fun loving person who was liked by everyone, especially those he worked with and for. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Hazleton where he served as publisher. He spent several years working as a youth advocate in Lehigh County and was a scout leader at all levels. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents was his previous wife Janet McCabe Everett. Surviving is his wife of 14 years, the former Jane L. (Trevino) Everett; sons Robert W. Everett, Jr. of Northampton and Ryan Matthew Everett and his wife Jessica of Jonas, PA along with 6 grandchildren. Also surviving are stepdaughters Tammy Trevino of Hazleton; Angela Trevino of Freeland and LeeAnn Hauptly and her husband David of Sheppton; stepsons Robert Trevino, Jr. of Hazleton and Julian Trevino of Hazleton; step grandchildren Christian, Briana and Paige VanValkenburg, Zachary and Nathan Hauptly and step great granddaughters Lily and Brooke VanValkenburg. Additionally he is survived by brothers Terry L. Everett and his wife Connie of Saylorsburg and Randy L. Everett and his wife Dee of Albrightsville; sister Carla Richebacher and her husband John of New Tripoli and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Butler Chapel of Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 530 West Butler Drive, Drums. Wilbur Gerlach, an elder at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Hazleton, will preside. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of service. |
