Graduation Year Class of 1968
Date of Passing Dec 16, 2022
About R.Peter Betz II, 72, husband of Patrica Betz (Hartman), passed away unexpectedly on December 16, 2022. Born in Reading, PA, he was preceded in death by his father Richard W. Betz and mother Helen Mae Betz (Stover). He was a 1968 graduate of Easton Area High School and went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University. Following a successful career with MetEd/GPU, he capitalized on his passion for investing and finance and built a profitable and successful financial planning business at Berkshire Investment Group. A zealous sport enthusiast and competitor, he excelled at soccer, golf and running. He played semi-pro soccer as the goalie for a league team in Bethlehem, PA. He won multiple golf club championships and ran several marathons and half marathons, including the Marine Corps Marathon in Quantico, VA. Pete loved all those around him, especially his family and friends. He was someone you could lean on for advice and have a serious talk with, but he was at his best with his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He enjoyed a beverage after a round of golf, a run, or at Happy Hour. Vodka tonics were his specialty. He is survived by his daughter, Aimee wife of Aaron Griffin, Greenville, SC; son, Andy Betz (Amy), Surf City, NC; grandchildren, Greyson, Madelyn and Kathryn-Elyse, and sisters; Kathie wife of James Walsh of Hilton Head, SC and Lynda wife of Tom Schoeninger of Bethlehem, PA. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palmetto Animal League at 56 Riverwalk Boulevard, Okatie, SC 29936 or the charity of your choice.
