Roland Junior Chase "Tuney and Killer", age 70 of Easton, MD went to sleep on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at home in Easton after a long illness.
He was born March 5, 1949 in Easton son of James Lester Chase and Clara Mae Chase. Roland was educated in the public schools of Talbot County. He graduated from Easton High School in 1968. Roland served in the National Guard for two years, employed by Talbot County Public Schools for three years before accepting a position with the Talbot County Sheriff Department. He served under the following sheriffs: George Forrest, Sr., Robert Gerlock, John J. Ellerbush, Thomas G. Duncan and Dallas G. Pope. Roland served the people of Talbot County for 36 years from March 17, 1975 to April 30, 2011. He received citations from the Maryland House of Representatives, Senate, and the Talbot County Council at his retirement celebration for his notable services of leadership during his tenure. Roland was a member of the Samuel T. Hemsley Lodge #974 in Easton and the Blake Blackston, American Legion Post #77 also of Easton.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: John Chase, William Lawrence and James Lawrence; 2 nieces: Brenda and Sandra Chase; and one step daughter, Sharenda Johns.
He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life and achievements, his loving wife of 29 years, Bonnie K. Chase; a daughter of this union, Rolchelle Chase of Easton; one son, Jermeanne Moaney of Greensboro; one step daughter, Douglisha Moaney (Jerrod), Easton; six grandchildren: Khira Gibson, Damian South, Nasir South and Jaliyah Moaney, all of Easton, Jadyn and Jermeanne Moaney, Jr., both of Greensboro; one great grandchild, Zora Gibson of Easton; 2 sisters: Susie Jenkins of Easton and Viola Chase of Easton; sisters in-law: Barbara Giles (Willie) of Greenwood, Betty Edwards (Willie) of Bridgeville, DE, Doris Terrell (Ricky) of San Antonio, TX, Delores Jacobs of Easton, Frances Lawley (Steve) of Chesapeake, VA, Shirley Jacobs of Capitol Heights, MD and Yuvetter Cook (Alvin) of Waldorf, MD; 4 special nephews: Tyler Chase (Emma) of Trappe, Lonnie Jenkins (Barbara) of Stafford, Virginia, Leon Jenkins, Jr. of Salisbury, and Darryl Jacobs of Baltimore; 2 special nieces: Bridgette Wright (Sylvester) of Cambridge, and Victoria Covington of Easton and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Mrs. Shenale Potter (caregiver) of Preston, Maryland.
