About | Anthony J. “Tony” Spagnola, 61, of Troy MI, stricken at home on July 20, 2011. Born: May 20, 1950, in Easton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jennie Buscemi Spagnola. Personal: He was a 1968 graduate of Easton Area High School, where he played tennis and was on Student Council, and a 1972 graduate of Ursinus College. Tony had a long career in the insurance industry and most recently was an executive at Willis North America. Devoted to his community, Tony served on the Troy School Board for 16 years, several as President. Tony was adored by his extended family, with whom he shared many stories and laughs through the years. Tony never met a stranger, and still counted high school and college classmates among his many friends. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends, golf, and travel with Sharon, including their annual trip to the shore with his sister s family. Survivors: Tony leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, Sharon Fowler Spagnola, with whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on September 5th. Tony is also survived by his loving sons, Doug of New York City, and Andy and his fiancé, Emilia Souvatzidis of Washington Township, MI; his sister, Judy Turner of Forks Township, PA; nephews, Travis and Caryn Turner of Baltimore, MD and Bailey Turner of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by his wife s sisters, Sandy Esposito, of Ocean City, NJ, Susan Lee of Lackawaxen, PA, and Shelley McKenzie of Cape Coral, FL and their families. Tony also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends (who were family to him). Services: Friends may call at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, Troy, MI on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. Visitation at St. Anastasia Catholic Church begins at 9 a.m. Monday, with funeral Mass at 9:30.
