About	Leonard S. Mathis, 65, of Easton, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, September 26, 2013 surrounded by his family. Born: July 28, 1948, he was the first son of the late Len S. and Dorothy Mae Stonewall Mathis. Personal: He was a 1968 graduate of Easton Area High School where he played football and ran track. Leonard served in the United States Marine Corps where he was a rifle marksman from June 28, 1968 until his honorable discharge in February 1970. He retired in 1996 from the NJ Department of Corrections, Annandale, NJ, where he was an Institutional Trade Instructor. Leonard was a lifelong Steelers fan and would travel yearly to Latrobe for their training season. He also enjoyed fishing, playing his bass and yearly vacations to different areas and trying new things. His most recent vacation was to Boston in August 2013 where he and his wife went on a whale watching tour. Survivors: His common-law wife, Cynthia Jenkins; four sons, Leonard II and Tracy, both of Easton, Branden, of Stroudsburg, and Matthew Grinda, of Georgia; a daughter, Jenny Puff, of Easton; three sisters, Annette Eggleston, of Washington, DC, Diane Bryant and her husband Donald, of Easton, and Carol Fallstich, of Allentown; five brothers, Edward, of Bethlehem, Thomas of Coal Township, PA, Richman and his wife Andrea K., of Bath, Milton, of Easton, Wayman and his wife Barbara, of California; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Services: A memorial service will be held at 11am Monday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 602 W. Berwick St., Easton. Call Monday 10:30-11am in the funeral home.
