What is Will Solomon known for?

William James Solomon, known widely as Will Solomon, (Stats) was born in Hartford, Connecticut on July 20, 1978. An extraordinary American professional basketball player, Solomon was first recognized for his skills at East Hartford High School in East Hartford, Connecticut, where he remains in several clubs for their basketball program, such as "1000 Career Points", "All State", "All Conference", and the "NBA Draft" club. He continued to impress during his time at Clemson University, where he was named first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) as a junior and made the second team as a senior.

His professional career kicked off when he was selected by the Vancouver Grizzlies in the second round of the 2001 NBA Draft. During his 2001-2002 season with the Grizzlies, he averaged 5.2 points, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 rebounds over 62 games. However, after only one year in the NBA, he decided to move to Europe, signing a contract with the Greek team Aris Thessaloniki in 2003, where he won the 4th-tier European competition, the FIBA EuroCup Challenge.

He then moved to Israel to play for Hapoel Jerusalem, with whom he won another European title, the ULEB Cup, the 2nd-tier European competition in 2004. He was fondly known as "The Fish" (Ha-dag, הדג) in Israel due to his last name's resemblance to "Salmon" in Hebrew. His career further expanded across multiple countries, playing for teams like Efes Pilsen in Turkey, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Fenerbahçe, Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Cherkaski Mavpy, Mersin BB, Shark Antibes, and AS Salé, showcasing his incredible versatility and passion for the game.

His career, spanning from 2001 to 2019, was adorned with numerous awards and highlights. Among these are the EuroLeague Finals Top Scorer in 2006, ULEB Cup champion in 2004, FIBA EuroCup champion in 2003, three-time Turkish League champion (2005, 2007, 2008), Turkish League All-Star in 2007, Turkish President's Cup winner in 2008, Israeli League champion and Israeli Cup winner in 2006, and French League All-Star in 2016. Will Solomon's career stands as a testament to his talent and dedication to basketball, making him one of the standout athletes of his generation.
