Mark Mackey
Class of 1975
Coast Guard, 20+ Years
Captain Mark S. Mackey is the Division Chief for the Force Readiness Command
Reserve Force Readiness Division (FC-1), assuming his current position in March, 2010.
FC-1 is a robust reserve force cadre that will insure the readiness of the reserve force
through training, qualifications, doctrine, standardization and compliance as appropriate
to reserves, and insure that reservists, to the fullest extent possible, have the same skill
sets as active duty Guardians.
In his previous assignments, he served as the Deep Water Coordinator and Chief, Reserve
Management; both positions on the Pacific Area Commander’s staff in Alameda,
California. During a versatile career that began in 1976, Captain Mackey served both
afloat and ashore assignments. His ashore assignments have included BM/PS “Aâ€
School, Station Manasquan Inlet, NJ, Second District Reserve staff, MLCPAC (pf), and
ISC Alameda (pf). Captain Mackey’s afloat tours include USCGC’s JARVIS, CAPE
NEWAGEN, SANGAMON, BOUTWELL, MUNRO and MELLON.
The University of Illinois graduate earned his Master of Arts degree from Chapman
University in Orange, Ca. Captain Mackey married the former Teri R. Walden of
Monticello Illinois in 1979. They have three grown children and two grand children.
