| About Me | Enlisted in USAF after graduating with my Bachelor's degree for economic purposes. I served as a Personnel Specialist at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas for 2 1/2 years, then took an assignment to Incirlik AB in Turkey, where I finished my active duty time in the 39th Support Group. Lived off base in Adana while in Turkey, met and made friends with my neighbors and was invited to attend a Turkish wedding as well as go on family vacations with neighbors. Great opportunity for this anthropologically trained Airman. Left active duty and joined the Air National Guard (174th FW, Syracuse), where I earned a commission. Transferred in 2001 to the 145th Airlift Wing (North Carolina ANG) in Charlotte when I moved to Durham to work at the UNC School of Medicine as a grant administrator. In 2005, I transferred to the Virginia Air National Guard to a RED HORSE civil engineering unit in Virginia Beach, as the Personnel Officer/Support Flight Commander while working at the Pentagon in DC as a civilian analyst for a Defense contractor. If you look back and check our senior yearbook, you’ll note that this was not what I intended to do with my life, but it’s been an interesting journey and I have plenty of time to do the other things I do want to do.
