After graduating from West Point in 1967, completed 28 years of service in the Army Field Artillery, retired as a colonel. Tours of duty included Ft. Bragg, NC, Vietnam with the 82d Airborne, Germany, Ft. Sill, OK, Atlanta, GA (Grad school at GA Tech), White Sands, NM, and Ft. Hood, TX. Commanded 155mm and 8" batteries, 155mm battalion, and Deputy Commander of a Separate Infantry Brigade, Mech. Participated in computer simulation studies of projected Artillery requirements; served as translator for a German-American technical exchange.
