Thomas D. Taverney

Class of 1963

Graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1968. Spent 38 years in the Air Force primarily in the mission of Space, launching rockets, designing and building space payloads, and commanding satellites on orbit. Achieved the rank of Major General in the Air Force, with last job as Vice Commander of Air Force Space Command. Currently Senior Vice President of Space Systems development at SAIC. Numerous military decorations including the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Air Force Scientific Achevement Award. Recieved Aviation Week award for 2012 for Program execution excellence. Recieved 2013 Stellar Award from NASA. Inducted into the Space Operations Hall of Fame on 2010. Serving on Advisory Boards for the Secretary of the Air Force, Air Force Sapce Command, and Space and Missile Systems center.
