DHS '08 Alum Releases Jazz Album

Saxophonist Jeff Miguel released his debut album, Perseverance, on May 3rd, 2015. Jeff recently received his M.A. in Music from the University of Iowa, and is a class of 2008 DeKalb High School graduate. The record features all original compositions, and is the newest release on the Real Town Records label. The personnel consists of University of Iowa music faculty, graduate students, and local professionals. The compositions feature a variety of jazz styles, and were influenced by such jazz greats as John Coltrane, Roy Hargrove, Poncho Sanchez and Quincy Jones. One of the compositions, Complete Contemplation, was recently featured as the Jazz Track of the Day on All About Jazz, and is now rated as a top recommended and top downloaded track. Jeff and his band will be performing the music from Perseverance at the Iowa City Jazz Festival on Friday July 3rd, 2015. The CD is available on iTunes and CD Baby.
