My basic training was at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes Illinois.
I spent most of my Naval enlistment in California, except for 1 year in Viet Nam as a crewman on a U.S. Navy river patrol boat in the Mekong Delta.
River Patrol Squadron 5 trained in both California and Subic Bay, Philippines,before deploying to Viet Nam.
Following my Naval enlistment, I came back home to Portland Maine, and went to college at the University of Maine at Portland ( now University of Southern Maine) under the G.I. Bill earning a degree in Business Administration.
