Peter Hatch
Class of 1965
Peter Hatch has been a professional classical musician since his senior year at David Douglas High School, when he became a member of the Portland Symphony Orchestra (one of the youngest members in the history of the orchestra). He later studied at The Juilliard School in New York, graduating with Bachelor's and Masters' degrees before continuing his studies in Europe where he also served as solo viola of the Tibor Varga Chamber Orchestra in Germany. Upon returning to the USA he became a member of the Seattle Symphony and founded a popular series of chamber music concerts, The Seattle Soloists. He soon took up residence in Los Angeles where he played in hundreds of movie scores during the following 30 years, including films such as Lion King, War Games, Battlestar Galactica, etc. as well as recording with such artists as Frank Sinatra, Julio Iglesias, Placido Domingo, Roberto Carlos, etc. and occasionally playing in the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestras. During this time, he founded the classical music record label, PROdigital Records, and produced over 15 CD titles, many of which are still available on classical music download sites. He has also served as solo violist of orchestras in Caracas, Venezuela and Valladolid, Spain and is presently Artistic Director of a music festival in Spain which presents two weeks of concerts every summer in the Spanish town of Villanueva de los Infantes. His two daughters are both outstanding violinists who have appeared as soloists with orchestras in America and Spain and join him in the music festival concerts every summer. He presently resides in Los Angeles with his wife of 25 years, Francisca Martinez Calixto,
